Freedom of speech (NOT)

A little video over at Stag Heath to warm the fires. Seems you can’t assemble at the fairgrounds with a sigh that endorses your candidate if it says “Impeach Obama.” Makes for a god arrest. At least the video cameras outnumbered the security guards and the one state trooper  at least 10 to 1.

(Side note)

Kinda freaks me out that Obama is not recognized by my spell checker.

Yeah…we’re a sponge.

I read this this morning…

Republicans were particularly incensed about Obama’s belief that the U.S. could “absorb” another terrorist attack on American soil, something Obama said he is doing everything he can to prevent that happening.

Cotract With America, Part Deux

Developing Thursday…

New GOP Contract focuses on taxes, spending, homeland security

By Molly K. Hooper - 09/22/10 05:39 PM ET

The Republicans’ new Contract with America, which will be unveiled on Thursday, calls for a crackdown on government spending, repealing the new healthcare law and extending all of the expiring Bush tax cuts.

The House GOP’s “Pledge to America” vows to “dedicate ourselves to the task of reconnecting our highest aspirations…by keeping faith with the values our nation was founded on, the principles we stand for, and the priorities of our people.”

Some of the points that are going to prove quite a challenge are…

… tackles job creation, “out-of-control” spending, repealing and replacing “the government takeover of healthcare,” government transparency and homeland security, among other issues.

So far, this is exactly what the true right wants to hear.

Can a zebra change it’s stripes?

Time for the refresher courses in politicking just to keep our minds sharp at the polls.

So everyone is putting on their game faces for the election cycle, and in a lot of cases, this means staunch backers of certain office holders are appearing to turn their backs on their compadres. These peole know that during the peak times between election cycles they are entrenched in unpopular, unsupported positions that endanger the very sovereignty of this great nation. They know they swallowed the poison pill, but they have to do a little dance to try to get the people to drink the kool-aid.

Harry Reid has ben trying to convince his state as well as the rest of the nation that none of the garbage that has passed in the last two years is his fault. This article over at rjjrdq (still don’t know what that means) will show that what one says and what one does are usualy two entirely different things in politics.

Carpenter’s song

Toes got to tappin’ over this little ditty over at the Jawa. Too bad for the outcome though.

Quote of the day…

Yep. It’s almost like the teamsters have never ventured into those waters before.

The Raffle

Today at work, we started a raffle for a small freezer with about 180 lbs. of beef. We actually had to SELL the tickets, or should I say HAWK them. Sales ability was called into question when I said I wanted to sell tickets to two vegetarians. My cohort said he wanted to sell two tickets to the same vegetarian.

I’m proud to say that before all was said and done, I sold two tickets to a vegetarian, two to a person of non meat eating religiosity, and one to a guy on a motorcycle based on the idea that he could put wheels on the freezer and tow it behind his bike.

Yeah buddy, the Lord is good.

Election cycle always a time to shine…

Since I was a kid, I loved Halloween. Not the candy, but the creativity of the costumes, and trying to guess who was who. I used to love to try to out-do my friends when it came to elaborate get-ups. I also loved it because to me it meant the beginning of my favorite time of year.

Politicians love it, however, because it’s the perfect time to break out the masks and try to dupe the American public into what the average career politician could be if elected.

WHIP COUNT: Democrats in favor of extending all of the Bush tax cuts

The following Democrats have come out in support of extending all of the George W. Bush-era tax cuts. A full extension of the tax cuts would include those individuals making more than $200,000 annually and families making more than $250,000. This list will be updated as more members make their position known. Please send updates and feedback to jay.heflin@thehill.com .

It’s FRIDAY!!!

Can’t help but notice that the weeks have a bit of a cycle. There are times that the weeks seem to drag like chilled honey, and then there are times that if you don’t pay attention, you miss the week entirely. Lately, it seems to me that the latter has been the way the weeks have gone. Get up Monday morning, work my hours, come home and dang if it’s not Friday night.

This would be great except that means the weekends follow suit…

Question of the day…

I just looked at the recommended tags for this post and I wonder…

What in this post suggests the following tags? ‘Transgendered’, ‘comedy’, ‘drag’, ‘arts and entertainment’, and ‘Yoda’?

I guess I’m going to have to question WordPress on this.

Umm…NO!

What would you say if your child’s school sent home a permission slip for this kind of field trip?
